VBrick has announced the VBrick Enterprise Media System (VEMS), the company’s new integrated hardware and software system for distributing live or on-demand video and rich media presentations throughout a global enterprise. According to the company, VEMS uses advanced bandwidth optimization to route users to the best location to receive video content, without impacting the performance of other networked applications. Additionally, the system’s user interface and search capabilities combine to form a complete video management system that can scale to several thousand concurrent users across the enterprise, says VBrick.
VEMS includes a plug-in for IBM Lotus Sametime, allowing enterprise users to integrate video with IBM’s flagship unified communications tool-from instant messaging and telephony to e-mail and web conferencing-and manage the content and distribution with VEMS. The plug-in allows users to search and view live and on-demand video and rich media presentations, share content with their contacts, and chat with content creators without leaving the Sametime client, according to the company.
VEMS is VBrick’s only complete IP video streaming solution that the company says eliminates bandwidth roadblocks by using defined zones to dynamically direct users to IP video content and prevent them from pulling multiple video streams over low bandwidth WAN links. It can be deployed within any existing IT infrastructure, reducing the time and cost concerns that may have prevented some enterprises from using live and on-demand IP video streaming.
