The UT260-052 Under Table 5×2 HDMI Switcher from Altinex is designed to be used with ShareTime collaborative display controllers that enable shared control of multiple inputs on a single monitor. It has five external HDMI video inputs that it can send to two outputs and there is an additional internal media player input for screensavers and logos. An LED on each indicates signal presence and switching commands may come through ShareTime controllers, TCP/IP through third-party controllers, Altinex tabletop units with Show Me support and auto-switching to the last input connected.
Launched in June 2015, the Ascender 16 is a multiscreen seamless switcher offering 12 seamless inputs and 42 source plugs covering HDMI, DVI-I, DisplayPort, 3G/HD/SD-SDI and universal analog. Based on Analog Way’s LiveCore platform, it can handle any source from composite video, up to 2560×1600, and it outputs a variety of formats up to 4K. In addition to a native background layer, Ascender 16 can display up to two trueseamless scaled layers per output and allows for soft edge blending. It features an independent Preview/ Mosaic/Monitoring output and full live preview of all sources.
The AT-UHD-CLSO-824 from Atlona is an eightinput, multi-format 4K matrix switcher with two pairs of mirrored HDMI/HDBaseT outputs that works for large meeting rooms that can be partitioned into separate smaller meeting spaces. The HDBaseT outputs are extended distance, up to 100 meters. On the input side, three are HDBaseT, four HDMI, and one VGA, enabling a wide range of potential sources located up to 100 meters from the switcher. Other presentation-friendly features include dual microphone inputs with phantom power and ducking, balanced analog audio outputs, and RS-232/IR/IP control for all input and output channels.
Audio Authority offers the central component of any distributed audio system in the ADX-1616, a 16×16 matrix preamp with DSP. Each of its 16 zones has separate volume, tone, and balance control along with 10-band EQ, and low-pass and high-pass filters. A sub channel can be added to any zone to create a low-pass zone output and pair it with a full-range output to create a 2.1 zone group that responds to switching and volume commands in tandem. The unit can be controlled by Ethernet, RS-232, IR, and front-panel controls.
While not a hardware switching product in itself, the IPXTC1, as part of the IPX Series from Aurora Multimedia, can be set up as an AV streaming transmitter or receiver based on the BlueRiver NT platform, and it can distribute its signals using IPBaseT technology. This teams 4K uncompressed video with zero latency seamless switching, videowall and multi-viewer modes, digital audio, USB 2.0, Ethernet, and control. Using a standard 10G copper or fiber network, IPBaseT supports a seamless UHD video and audio matrix in a single box distributed system.
The Black Box Modular Video Matrix Switcher bridges the divide between new digital video and legacy video systems with a chassis that is configurable with any combination of I/O cards including HDMI, RJ45, DVI, and VGA.Any of these signal types can be instantly routed to any other type and the video signal can be up or downscaled, handling up to 4K UHD resolutions. The Smart Videohub from Blackmagic Design is a line of SD, HD, and Ultra HD mixedformat routers featuring built-in front panel LCD video monitoring of the source selected with the adjacent spin knob controller. The rack-mounted Smart Videohub is small enough for portable use in rolling racks. The three models include 12×12, 12×20, and 40×40 control panels. The power supply is internal and the network control is configurable right on the front of the unit. No computer is necessary. The Clearone CONVERGE MATRIX mixer and router has a matrix with four sizes up to 512 in/out capability and it is field expandable using the Clearone expansion card. The system uses Dante networking for signal distribution and it works with all CONVERGE units (840T, 880, 880T, 880TA, 8i, SR1212, SR1212A, TH20, VH20), CONNECT Dante bridge and WS800 wireless mic system along with any 3rd party Dante products. Each unit has rear connections for control through Ethernet, serial and USB. It is perfectly suited for airports, room sound reinforcement, emergency notification, sound playback and paging applications.
Crestron’s DMPS3-4K-150-C 3-Series 4K DigitalMedia Presentation System 150 combines an AV control system, 10×1 multimedia switcher, 4K video scaler, mic preamp, and audio DSP into one single rack space frame, and it can be configured to work with a touchscreen, iPad, or computer for setup and control. It supports up to four TT-100 series Crestron Connect It Cable Caddies and its preloaded DMPS3. AV Framework software enables customized presentation control without programming.

FSR designed the DV-MFMV-74 as a 7×1 seamless windowing switcher with inputs including four HDMI, two DisplayPort, and one VGA/RGB/YPbPr along with one HDMI out. It supports scaled resolutions up to [email protected], and the DV-MFMV-74 allows you to show up to four of the inputs in the same screen simultaneously in a single, dual, triple, or quad screen layout. It easily integrates with FSR’s HuddleVU FLEX Collaboration System, which integrates cameras, teleconferencing systems, recording, playback and streaming equipment, lighting, shade control, and other features.
Gefen’s 4K Ultra HD 8×8 Matrix Switcher, the EXT-UHD-88, is designed for centralized distribution of 4K video and it supports every consumer resolution while including the ability to route VESA resolutions used by computer sources as cinema quality video (4K DCI). This switch lends itself well to commercial applications, allowing integrators to adapt inputs and outputs to use DVI sources and displays. Gefen’s Syner-G software simplifies installation as it supports automatic network discovery using beacons and simplifies EDID management. It features IP, RS232, Telnet, UDP, and IR control, and works with control systems such as the ELAN control platform.
The IHSE Draco tera enterprise KVM matrix (K480-576) is a 576-port modular matrix system for bidirectional signal distribution of high-definition video, audio, and data over Cat-X, multi-mode fiber, or single-mode fiber. Among the supported formats are DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI along with digital audio, USB 2.0, and USB 3.0. The system is controlled through OSD (onscreen display), the JAVA-based Draco tera tool, an RS232 serial interface, or through a third-party external control system with the available API protocol design package.
KanexPro combines the power of HDMI and HDBaseT in the MX-HDBASE8X8-4K matrix switcher with its eight HDMI inputs and eight HDBaseT outputs available for routing 4K UHD video in addition to audio de-embedding and eight IR inputs. It can be controlled on Ethernet, RS232, bidirectional IR, or on the front panel. Also providing built-in EDID and HDCP management, the switcher is designed for mid-scale applications and supports power over Ethernet (PoE) to all eight receivers.
The VP-558 from Kramer Electronics is an 11×4 ProScale presentation scaler/matrix switcher and has four independent scaled outputs with embedded audio via both HDMI and HDBaseT. This includes six HDMI and four HDBaseT inputs along with an analog VGA input and a 4×1 USB switcher. The audio features independent stereo audio outputs and a line output as well as a microphone input, an amplified speaker output, and audio DSP. The VP-558 can be controlled through built-in webpages, onscreen display, and RS−232.
Lightware Visual Engineering has developed the MX8x8HDMI-Pro digital video router as an all HDMI platform supporting the latest HDMI 1.3 36 bit deep-color standard, and handling Dolby TrueHD and DTSHD formats. It supports resolutions up to 1920×1200 or 2048×1080 with 60-meter cable compensation on all inputs and all outputs are re-clocked for stable transmission. The MX8x8HDMI-Pro can be controlled either by RS-232/RS-422 port or TCP/IP LAN connection or by built-in website. There also is an S/ PDIF digital audio breakout for every output.
The VSW-2200 seamless 3G/HDSDI switcher from Marshall Electronics is a four-input video switcher providing instant seamless transitions between live video feeds for broadcasts, teleconferences, and live streamed events. It has four 3G/HD-SDI inputs with two separate SDI and HDMI outputs, and still-store capability. All four inputs can be simultaneously monitored in HDMI Quadview output. The VSW-2200 supports formats from PAL and NTSC up to 1080p60/59.94/50 with re-clocking, equalization, auto-scaling, and up/ down conversion in 1RU. It is controllable via Ethernet, IR remote, or USB GUI for flexible system design.
The Opticis OMM-2500 32×32 DVI/ HDMI/SDI/DisplayPort optical modular matrix switcher is configured with its I/O cards, each of which offers all four of these digital formats. Its dual link DVI cards are composed of two ports and can be configured for 2×2 to 8×8. Optical DVI I/O cards operate with the DVFX-100 fiber extension module for DVI runs up to 1 kilometer. Control options include front panel keys or command line input on RS-232 and TCP/ IP. An embedded video signal generator and diagnostic functions make installation and maintenance quick and easy.
Pesa equipped the Cheetah 128NE as a mid-range, multi-format routing switcher with customization through I/O card options for the widest range of connector and signal types carried on coax and fiber. These include 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, ASI, embedded a u d i o , a n d CWDM signals, and the system is expandable in groups of 16 ports up to 128×128. It can be controlled through third-party control protocols as well as the PESA control system using the PERC2000 and PERC3000 System Control Software.
The PureLink HTX-8800-U is an eight in/ out HDMI to HDBaseT matrix switcher with Ultra HD/4K, HDCP v2.2, and PoE. Its outputs are augmented with the extra capability of local routing directly through HDMI ports. The HDBaseT lines can be terminated with PureLink’s HTX receivers. Each output has audio de-embedding via RCA analog stereo or RCA coaxial digital output. The switcher has full 3D compatibility up to 1080p and auto EDID management. Status checks and setup parameters can be adjusted on the front panel LCD display and control can be done through TCP/IP, RS-232 and infrared. Also available from PureLink is the UX line of matrix switchers in 2×2 to 8×8 configurations. They provide switching of up to four or eight HDMI 2.0a inputs and outputs with advanced EDID management and added security features. The UX Series is compatible with displays that support High Dynamic Range (HDR) content.
The UltraMatrix AV HDMI 16×16 HDMI Video Matrix Switch from Rose Electronics transmits uncompressed 1080p video up to 40ft. under control from front panel, RS-232, IR, and TCP/IP. It supports 7.1 digital surround sound audio and its unique Learn Mode acquires the EDID information for any output monitor. RoseControl software provides a range of options and simplifies setup and control. This one joins the Rose product stable alongside the Orion X-Series of KVM matrix switchers with their eight-port I/O cards expandable up to 244 ports and the Orion XC compact KVM switch for Cat-X or fiber with eight to 80 ports.
The AN-300-RT-4L2W from Arankis Networks by SnapAV has four Gigabit LAN interfaces and supports two Gigabit WAN interfaces. These can be configured for load balancing or link failover. The single rack space unit has multiple mounting options and the simple GUI follows the Araknis standard design. Among other features, this allows the user to setup a range of external ports with a single command.
Tekvox has a big solution in a small package with the TekFlex-12 matrix switcher. While it only uses two rack spaces it is highly configurable for custom installation and easy upgrades. The 12 I/O switcher can be set up to have one output and 11 inputs or any combination in between. Providing seamless switching and adjustable resolution for each output, the TekFlex-12 automatically recognizes input and output cards and it is controllable through the front panel, IR, RS232, and TCP/IP. All outputs have adjustable scalers and firmware updates can be made through the front panel USB port.
The C3-310 CORIOmatrix mini scaling matrix router from TVOne is a 1RU unit that has five modular AV slots, each of which can be configured as an input or output. It also offers two dedicated DVI inputs. The scaled output modules can convert between a wide range of video formats including HDMI and SDI. The router can be controlled on a Web interface or through RS232. AMX and Crestron control modules are also available. Using the updated CORIOdiscover PC application, up to 10 resolutions can be added and used as input or output resolutions. The CORIOmatrix includes advanced Digital Flicker Elimination circuitry and Pixel Level Motion Adaptive Diagonal Interpolation and Noise Reduction.
Zigen’s award-winning ZIG-SW42 is an HDMI2.0a switch with a mirrored HDBaseT 100-meter port (single CAT5e or higher) for long distance runs of high-resolution content; the 600 MHz switch is designed for home and commercial environments that require switching of high-bandwidth UHD (2160P60 4:4:4). The SW42 features four HDMI 2.0 inputs and 1 HDMI 2.0 output, digital audio de-embedding of active channels, and an Ethernet port and WebOS for setup, switching EDID management, firmware updates and remote reset. It’s also controllable via built-in IR receiver or RS-232.
