L-Acoustics created this compact, affordable amplifier to fill a need for small to mid-sized permanent installation projects that require premium audio quality but lack the space or budget for high-power touring equipment. The LA1.16i breaks from traditional design by prioritizing high channel density in an ultra-compact 1U chassis with a unique 16×16 architecture. This allows users to operate 16 output channels in single-ended mode (80W at 8 ohms), perfect for near-field or spatial audio setups like L-ISA. For more demanding loudspeakers, output pairs can be bridged to provide 300W at 8 ohms.
To support this versatility, the LA1.16i includes network redundancy via Milan-AVB and AES67, as well as the proprietary L-SMART power management technology.
The commercial impact is significant: one 5.6 kg chassis can replace four standard four-channel amplifiers. This consolidation saves rack space, reduces the number of network ports, and simplifies cabling, lowering the total cost of ownership. For integrators, installation is streamlined through efficient terminal block connectors and the intuitive LA Network Manager software.
A compact size reduces transportation weight and carbon emissions, and energy-efficient design and L-SMART technology minimize idle power consumption during operation.
From the judges: The LA1.16i amplifier from L-Acoustics provides significant value for integrators looking for multi-channel amplification. 16 output channels in a single rack unit allow integrators to drive multiple speakers with a minimum required footprint. The energy efficiency allows integrators to drive more channels while not overloading circuits since the unit pulls less than 15 amps. Overall, the cost/benefit for deploying the LA1.16i makes the amplifier a winner across the board.
This evolution of the popular EVENT series is a compact, self-powered line array system built for fast deployment and consistent results.
Weighing just 26.5 kg (58.4 lbs), It features a symmetrical two-way design with dual 10″ neodymium transducers and dual M-60 compression drivers. Its waveguide and “V” transducer configuration provide controlled 90° horizontal dispersion down to 200 Hz and precise vertical coupling between cabinets.
A key feature is Smart Self-Tuning technology. Using infrared detection, each enclosure automatically identifies its position within the array and configures itself accordingly. The system detects the total number of cabinets, determines long- and short-throw positions, and loads the correct presets without manual intervention.
Integrated 24-bit DSP with FIR processing delivers compatibility with other EVENT Series models and is compatible with the DAScontrol interface.
A Class D amplifier delivers 2000 W peak output, for up to 138 dB of linear SPL. A weather-protected amplifier module adds confidence for outdoor use.
The Fast Set Splay (FSS) rigging system allows quick and accurate angle adjustments directly from the dolly, supporting arrays of up to 24 cabinets with 1° increments.
From the judges: The DAS Event 30 provides contractors, specifically within the rental and staging environments, with one of the easiest line arrays to deploy on the market. The integrated infrared detection system and automatic configuration represent a level of R&D that sets the Event 30 apart from other powered line array systems. The system sounds good for both speech and music applications, and the small pack space required for storage/touring adds value.
JBL Professional SRX900 Series
This is another winner for small to medium-format sound reinforcement applications. Drawing on technologies developed for JBL’s flagship touring systems, SRX900 delivers clean, detailed sound with controlled directivity for a range of use cases. JBL proprietary transducers, optimized waveguides, and rugged enclosures echo the JBL values.
The SRX900 family provides products covering all major loudspeaker categories and form factors. The lineup includes dual 6.5-inch and dual 10-inch line array speakers; 12-inch, 15-inch, and dual 12-inch point-source products; and 15-inch and 18-inch subwoofers designed for both flyable and ground-stacked configurations.
From the judges: The SRX900 line continues to shine, providing significant value for integrators looking for an approachable powered speaker system for rental inventory and installs in small and mid-size venues. The new point source options greatly increase the capacity of the SPX900 line and provide out-of-the-box solutions for houses of worship, schools, and theatre applications. Overall, I think integrators will find a number of projects could be well served by an SPX900 solution, and the new speakers go a long way at rounding out the product lineup.
This is the first model in a new generation of USW subwoofers that expands Meyer’s heritage of low-frequency innovation into a broad range of applications. Drawing on the popular 2100-LFC but optimized for installs and portable uses, it delivers that model’s signature in a streamlined form factor at a very attractive price point.
Powered by a single 21-inch driver with a wide frequency range of 20–125 Hz (-10 dB), it delivers extended low end with the same power and precision that define Meyer Sound’s flagship subwoofers. In larger systems, the USW-121P can also complement the 2100-LFC, adding ground-stacked depth beneath flown arrays.
At just 24.5 inches deep, the USW-121P provides substantial low-end extension without sacrificing valuable floor or stage space. Its rigid cabinet optimizes acoustic volume and features a distinctive corner cut-out that allows for connector and cable clearance when the cabinet is against a wall or in other tight spaces, including behind screens and in prosceniums. A low-velocity square port minimizes noise even at extreme low frequencies.
The USW-121P is the first Meyer Sound subwoofer to feature Galileo Extended Networking (GEN-1) technology, which integrates networked audio connectivity and Galileo GALAXY-class DSP directly into the loudspeaker, reducing or eliminating the need for separate system processors. As a result, calibration and deployment are simpler and more scalable across cinema, theater, and spatial applications.
AES67 and analog inputs are standard at launch, with Milan functionality planned in a later GEN-1 update, giving designers and integrators a flexible, future-ready workflow.
From the judges: Meyer delivers another powerful speaker pushing the envelope with a large 21″ driver but this time in a super shallow cabinet. The shallow cabinet allows integrators the opportunity to fit the hardware into spaces other brands won’t fit. The power-to-weight ratio, with the cabinet coming in under 200lbs, is impressive with a driver of this size fabricated into a powered enclosure.
This self-powered, 3-way active column system claims to end the “pretty but powerless” era of column speakers.
It has a 3-way design: a long-excursion 18-inch neodymium subwoofer, dual 8-inch neodymium mid drivers, and a 3-inch diaphragm compression driver feeding BASSBOSS’s isophasic waveguide. That is not a “tall stick with tiny drivers.” It’s a full-range system built for real show impact, purpose-built for mobile DJs, performers, and venues that need one flexible rig. Its height lifts mids and highs above heads for coverage.
Performance clocks at 35 Hz to 19 kHz (±3 dB), 130 dB maximum sustained output, and 133 dB peak SPL (half-space), with 120° horizontal coverage and a tight 20° vertical beam. Sublim8 runs a tri-amped 4000W Class D platform (2400W LF, 800W MF, 800W HF) with onboard DSP at 96 kHz.
The column breaks into three interlocking sections (sub, spacer, top) that transport as a single package on the included dolly cart, with covers included. One person can tilt, connect, and raise it into position quickly. A key detail is a built-in mounting point and a power outlet for a light fixture at the top of the column, reducing the need for extra stands, truss, and clutter. The enclosure is CNC-machined birch plywood, bonded polyurea coating, hydrophobic grille backing, waterproof driver cones, and IP65-rated powerCON True1 TOP connectors.
From the judges: The Sublim8-MK3 subwoofer/column speaker system blows away the competition, providing significant frequency response improvement, and all textured/waterproof finish adds durability that other column systems lack. Drawing only 5.4 amps of power, the system is easy to deploy in the field, and integrators will appreciate how robust the system feels compared to the typical thermo-plastic bodies of other systems.
