Lytton, BC (June 1, 2026) – The 2 Rivers Remix Society (2Rmx), a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing world-class, free contemporary Indigenous music festivals to First Nations communities across British Columbia, is proving that premium live event production can be both socially transformative and 100% environmentally sustainable. By deploying an ultra-efficient d&b audiotechnik V-Series loudspeaker system, driven by D80 and 5D amplifiers and powered entirely by electric vehicles and renewable energy, 2Rmx is delivering an unparalleled auditory experience to underserved communities while maintaining a zero-emission, carbon-neutral footprint.
What began as a small gathering ten years ago at a farmer’s market in Lytton, BC, has grown into a massive touring movement. Today, the 2Rmx tour travels to remote locations—sometimes requiring equipment to be barged across the ocean to reach isolated sites on the Pacific Gulf islands. They bring a full 24’x20′ Stageline SL100 mobile stage, LED screens, moving lights, and top-tier talent including Willie Thrasher, William Prince, DJ Shub, The Haluci Nation, Handsome Tiger, Tia Wood, Aysanabee, Leonard Sumner, Aztlan Underground, Logan Staats, Keith Secola, Murray Porter, Quanah Style, Kym Gouche, Lido Piemienta, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Kiva Morgan, and the Melawman Collective.
At the heart of their mission is the profound impact of live music. “We have a slogan: ‘Music is medicine.’ What we do is a healing phenomenon for communities that have historically been mistreated,” says Manuel Avila, Production Manager for 2Rmx. “In the spirit of reconciliation and retribution for past injustices, bringing a first-world-class show to a remote community provides immense healing. It brings happiness. The best part for me is seeing the kids jumping and dancing. That’s our philosophy; that’s what we do.”
A Blueprint for Carbon-Neutral Touring
A major mandate of the 2 Rivers Remix Society is to be as environmentally conscious as possible. Touring with a crew of 40+ and an impressive amount of production gear, they have pioneered an innovative off-grid power solution.
“It’s very important to us that we power everything without emissions,” Avila explains. “We tow the equipment with five electric trucks, primarily Chevy Silverados, and utilize Bluetti battery systems paired with a solar panel farm.
We use two trucks completely dedicated to the audio system. There are no inverters; it goes straight from the truck’s L14-30 outlets into our D80 amplifiers.”
“The beauty of the d&b system’s efficiency is that we can power the audio racks straight from our electric trucks. We can operate without the noise, pollution, or expense of diesel generators,” Avilla continues. “I can park the truck right beside the stage because there’s no smoke exhaust. After a full two days of setup, showtime, and strike, we only consume about 25% of the truck’s battery.”
Empowering Indigenous Youth with Premium Audio
Beyond the environmental achievements, 2Rmx is deeply committed to engaging and uplifting the local communities. All 2Rmx events are completely free to attend, and approximately 95% of their production staff is Indigenous, with a strong focus on training youth, women, and visible minorities.
“When we started this project, Indigenous audiovisual technicians were uncommon in our industry,” notes Avila. “We want to train our Indigenous youth with the top gear in the industry. By utilizing d&b audiotechnik, when these young technicians go out into the job market, they can showcase their savviness on the world’s most requested PA system. We are very proud to say we work with d&b, the best of the best.”
Uncompromising Sonic Quality
The 2Rmx team relies on a previously owned, d&b audiotechnik V-Series line array system, paired with J-SUB subwoofers for powerful, controlled low-end.
“We went with d&b for the obvious reasons: top-tier quality, power, and constant innovation,” Avila emphasizes. “The cardioid performance of the J-SUBs is essential for us, keeping the stage quiet for our performers. And even when we are managing the strict power limits of an off-grid battery setup, the system delivers pristine, loud, and high-quality sound everywhere in the audience.”
Looking to the future, 2Rmx continues to expand its d&b inventory to enhance the audience experience, recently investing in d&b’s ultra-compact U-Series. “We just acquired four of the new U5 loudspeakers to use as front fills, powered by a 5D amplifier,” Avila shares. “I love d&b’s approach of making smaller, highly capable speakers. At 133 dB output, they’re incredibly loud for such a compact, lightweight enclosure. It allows us to be versatile; for a smaller DJ setup, I can just bring the U5s and they are perfect for the job.”
Through their innovative use of d&b audiotechnik technology and renewable energy, 2 Rivers Remix Society is not just producing festivals—they are redefining the future of sustainable touring and delivering vital “medicine” to the communities that need it most.
About the System Configuration
The 100% battery-powered d&b audiotechnik system deployed by 2 Rivers Remix Society features a main PA of 12 V-Series loudspeakers, flown 6 per side (4 x V8 over 2 x V12). Low-frequency support is provided by J-SUB subwoofers, selected for their superior cardioid performance. Front fill coverage is now handled by 4 x ultra-compact U5 point source loudspeakers. The main arrays and subwoofers are efficiently driven by 4 x D80 amplifiers, while the U5 front fills are powered by a single 5D amplifier.
