AptoVision announces Cat-X version of BlueRiver™ NT, adds new features to game changing technology for uncompressed AV signal distribution

AptoVision, a Montreal-based technology company, is launching the Cat-X version of its new BlueRiverâ„¢ NT chipset at InfoComm 2014, (June 18-20, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV). The chipset is the world’s first and only mainstream chipset to enable the transmission and switching of real-time, uncompressed Ultra-HD AV signals with zero-frame latency over off-the-shelf (OTS) fiber and copper 10GbE switches. Replacing custom AV Matrix switches with standard Ethernet switches cuts the cost of AV matrix switching equipment by 60%, while also eliminating the associated R&D cost, procurement complexities and inventory risk.

“AptoVision’s BlueRiver NT is a truly revolutionary platform which addresses multiple application areas previously requiring custom system architectures for each application,” said Kamran Ahmed, CEO and co-founder of AptoVision; “By successfully leveraging available 10GbE technology for uncompressed video distribution & processing, AptoVision has eliminated the reliance on expensive circuit switches and backplanes which result in un-scalable, highly complex and costly systems.”

Support for Cat-X allows for up to 100m distance range between the switch and the attached source and/or display devices. The resulting support for lower-cost 10G copper switches further reduces the cost of the installation compared to custom AV matrix switching equipment.

AptoVision is also introducing unique new functionality to the BlueRiver NT platform, enabling a variety of new application areas:

Seamless switching: Ability to switch from one video source to another without any glitch on the display

Multi-view applications: Ability to show a grid composed of multiple video sources on a single display

Video-wall applications: Ability to scale a single video source across a wall of multiple displays

AptoVision will demonstrate its BlueRiver NT technology at its booth (#C10146) during the InfoComm tradeshow. Requests for a meeting or a guided demo can be sent to

About BlueRiver NT Chipset

Integrated into source-side AV transmitters and display-side AV receivers, the BlueRiverâ„¢ NT chipset transmits uncompressed Ultra-HD (4K) HDMI-video, 32 channels of audio, USB 2.0i and useful control signals over fiber or copper cabling using a packet-based architecture allowing the signals to be switched through standard OTS 10GbE switches. Proprietary technology to handle arbitration, source clock recovery, bandwidth management and network configuration ensures real-time, pixel for pixel, zero-frame latency transmission.

About AptoVision

A Montreal-based company, AptoVision is redefining the AV signal processing and distribution platform through its BlueRiverâ„¢ technology and FPGA-based chipsets. Integrating unique IP, the BlueRiverâ„¢ platform delivers 50% to 80% reduction in system costs and up to 10x performance gains over comparable solutions. The platform also enables the only products in the world which scale with current and evolving AV signal distribution requirements for ultra-high definition and ultra-high bandwidth video, multi-format support, multi-video transmission, and advanced pixel processing.
