IRVINE, Calif. — March 7, 2013 — BenQ America Corp. today announced that the company has renewed its sponsorship as the official gaming monitor of Major League Gaming (MLG), the world’s largest competitive video game league, for the 2013 MLG Pro Circuit Season. Kicking off March 15-17 at the MLG Winter Championship in Dallas, top gamers from around the world will compete using BenQ’s RL2450HT and RL2455HM monitors, designed specifically for professional gaming and engineered to meet the specific needs of eSports athletes. Releasing to the public at the start of the event, the new RL2455HM monitor has been engineered exclusively for fast action console gaming, offering a blazing-fast 1-ms GTG response time.
At the Winter Championship, gamers will compete for their share of $170,000 in prizes playing first-person shooter (FPS) game Call of Duty(R): Black Ops ll on Xbox 360(R) and real-time strategy (RTS) games League of Legends(R) and StarCraft(R) ll: Heart of the Swarm(TM) on PC. Thousands of spectators will watch the tournament at the Dallas Convention Center, and hundreds of thousands more will watch the action at
for free in resolutions up to 720p HD with an option to upgrade to 1080p.
“We are proud to be the first monitor manufacturer to dedicate itself to professional gaming, and can’t wait to join MLG again this year as it kicks off its tenth Pro Circuit Season with the Winter Championship in Dallas,” said Bob Wudeck, Director of Retail and e-Commerce at BenQ America Corp. “For the world’s top gamers, our RL2450HT is set to deliver the ultimate RTS experience, while the new RL2455HM is specifically designed to take fast action FPS console gaming to an entirely new level. These elite displays will be joined by the XL2420T console monitor, which will be used by MLG throughout the event. In addition, be sure to keep an eye out at future events this season for the soon-to-be-released, flagship XL2720T, which features a stunning 27-inch widescreen display.”
Designed for professional console gaming with an ultra-low input lag that renders action without ghosting or latency from mouse motion, the new RL2455HM will provide the ultimate experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops ll at the Winter Championship. In addition, the monitor features a 60-Hz refresh rate tuned to match console video output for seamless connectivity. With its RTS Mode to maximize visibility and optimize color, the RL2450HT will be used for League of Legends and StarCraft ll: Heart of the Swarm PC gaming. For top-level games, both monitors feature a 24-inch widescreen (16:9) full HD LED screen, LED backlighting for great color reproduction and low power consumption, and a 12 million to 1 contrast ratio for the best in picture quality.
The RL2455HM and RL2450HT feature BenQ’s Black eQualizer to enable total visibility by allowing gamers to adjust the screen brightness without over-exposing white levels — revealing critical combat details with improved visibility in darkened areas. To accommodate individual viewing preferences, a Display Mode allows gamers to interchange between monitor screen sizes, while the Smart Scaling feature gives them the ability to scale the screen on-the-fly to virtually any custom size — ranging from a 24-inch 1080p display to a traditional 17-inch 4:3 format — without impacting controller sensitivity. In addition, the RL2450HT features an adjustable height stand for optimal screen positioning.
Supporting competitive gaming, BenQ will offer the monitors used in the tournament at special discount pricing available to all MLG tournament fans. Additional product information to help customers choose the right gaming monitor is available here.
