Champaign, IL — November 15, 2021 – Cobalt® Digital, announced today that three of its products have received 2021 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards. Cobalt, designer and manufacturer of edge devices for live video production and master control, and a founding partner in the openGear® initiative, took two spots in the Hardware Infrastructure category for its 9905-MPx audio/video processor, and its new INDIGO ST 2110 openGear-based uncompressed solution. The Company’s RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport) Main Profile Security Option for its compression line was honored as a winner of IT Networking/Infrastructure and Security Technology.
This official awards program recognizes the most significant and promising new products and technologies showcased by corporate partners of NAB Show. Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts in 16 categories and announced in a live awards ceremony on NAB Amplify on November 3.
9905-MPx – WINNER: Hardware Infrastructure
Cobalt’s 9905-MPx 3G/HD/SD Quad-Path Up/Down/Cross Converter/Frame Sync/Embed/De-Embed Audio Processor is an audio/video processor for baseband digital signals up to 3G, offering four independent signal paths. The fully featured, multi-functional card includes independent up/down/cross convert scalers that are specifically designed for broadcast video formats, with full ARC control suitable for conversions to or from 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. Discrete AES and MADI audio embedding/routing/mixing/de-embedding to any of four processing paths is supported. Standard 3D LUT feature and available color correction provide accommodation of SDR and HDR processing for downstream HDR systems, in a per-channel basis. This product is provided as an openGear card, which allows it to be integrated into existing broadcast frames. If high signal density is desired, it is possible to have up to 24 channels (6 cards) of processing in a single Cobalt HPF-9000 frame. The card also supports per-channel logo and trouble slate insertion, clean and quiet switching, and ancillary data insertion/extraction.
INDIGO ST 2110 – WINNER: Hardware Infrastructure
The INDIGO 2110-DC-01 is a factory add-on option to Cobalt’s 9904-UDX-4K and 9905-MPx cards. These cards include an advanced audio/video processing engine, capable of up/down/cross conversion, audio routing, color correction, 3D-LUT processing, as well as SL-HDR encoding and decoding. This option adds native SMPTE ST-2110 support with multiple 25G Ethernet interfaces. With this option, all the advanced processing in these cards is now available with IP inputs and outputs, without the need for an external gateway. The INDIGO ST 2110 product includes support for ST-2022-6 seamless redundancy switching, as well as IS-04/IS-05 NMOS for automatic discovery and configuration.
RIST Main Profile Security Option – WINNER: IT Networking/Infrastructure and Security Technology
The RIST Main Profile Security Option (product code +RIST/ENCRP) adds built-in encryption and authentication to the Cobalt compression line, which includes both encoders and decoders. This allows broadcasters to protect their content without having to add separate security devices, as it is a built-in feature for the encoders/decoders.
“Nominees like Cobalt Digital are revolutionizing the way people experience media and entertainment,” said NAB Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations, Chris Brown. “The 2021 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards highlights the best of what’s new and celebrates the breakthroughs and advancements within the content industry.”
