Dirac Opteo Named CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree

Sound optimization solution that maximizes the sound performance of any headphone earns recognition in both ‘Embedded Technologies’ and ‘Headphones & Personal Audio’ categories.

Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac today announced that it has been named a CES® 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree for the company’s Dirac Opteo sound optimization solution for headphones. The announcement comes ahead of CES 2022, taking place Jan. 5-8, 2022. Dirac will be demonstrating its award-winning solution at hospitality parlor suites at the Venetian throughout the show.

Dirac Opteo was selected as an honoree in the CES 2022 Innovation Awards ‘Embedded Technologies’ and ‘Headphones & Personal Audio’ categories for its ability to digitally maximize headphone sound performance without reengineering existing design.

Whether integrated into smartphones or the Bluetooth chipsets of wireless headphones, Dirac Opteo removes unintended resonances or colorations caused by the design of the headphones themselves and their components. The result is better overall sound quality: more balanced, transparent sound with richer detail, and tighter bass.

“Designing headphones that sound their best is both an art and a science,” stated Lars Isaksson, Dirac’s Head of Business Development, Streaming & Headphones. “Manufacturers often go through trial-and-error, countless tuning iterations, and expensive speaker upgrades to achieve the right sound. However, Dirac Opteo frees manufacturers from these considerations and limitations and enables them to design products that both look and sound their very best more easily and at lower cost. This CES Innovation Award validates the market success of Dirac Opteo and we look forward to continued rollouts throughout 2022 and beyond.”

Dirac Opteo addresses the root causes of unsatisfying sound and digitally upgrades the audio performance of headphones. Leveraging years of insight from Dirac Live’s unique mixed-phase impulse response correction, Dirac Opteo uses patented magnitude response correction technology to remove any unintended resonances or sound colorations, maximizing the acoustic performance of headphones.

The result is clean, crisp sound, providing the manufacturer a foundation for fine tuning and signature sound design. In this way, Dirac Opteo helps headphone manufacturers to keep the costs low while achieving the superior sound performance of more expensive hardware.

With a customizable, high-resolution target curve, Dirac Opteo also makes it possible to precisely adjust the target frequency curve for consistency across all form factors and ANC modes. This results in a greater sound experience in all situations. Not to mention smoother product development and faster time to market.

The CES Innovation Awards program, owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products across 28 product categories.

An elite panel of industry expert judges, including members of the media, designers, engineers and more, reviewed submissions based on innovation, engineering and functionality, aesthetic and design.

Dirac will be demonstrating its award-winning Dirac Opteo solution at CES 2022, at hospitality parlor suites at the Venetian, across a range of new and existing headphone products. For more on Dirac Opteo, click here. For hi-res photos, click here.
