Furman“s SPB-8C Honored by Best in Show Panel at NAMM University Event

Pedal Board Named Best in Show Product in “Gotta Stock It!” Category

PETALUMA, Calif. — Feb. 27, 2007 —

Furman Sound, a world-leading provider of AC power management and conditioning solutions, today announced that its SPB-8C pedal board was named a Best in Show product in the “Gotta Stock It!” category by the Best in Show panel at the NAMM University breakfast.

Moderated by Zach Phillips, editor of Music Inc. and UpBeat Daily magazines, the Best in Show panel consisted of six industry experts who picked their favorite companies, products, and services from the NAMM show and presented the winners in five categories during a breakfast event on the last day of the show.

In the “Gotta Stock It!” category, the panelists selected items that they wished were in their stores for the last holiday buying season. Alan Friedman, gear nut, CPA, and partner with Friedman, Kannenberg and Co., West Hartford, Conn., chose the Furman SPB-8C for this category based on the pedal board‘s ability to handle attached pedal boards, and its convenient case with handle and wheels.

“It is an honor to have our SPB-8C recognized by the panel as a Best in Show product at NAMM,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Furman Sound and Panamax. “In addition to its rugged build quality and superior power protection, the pedal board has several features which make it easy and convenient to transport from one gig to another.”

Built to last and maintain optimum performance under abusive on-stage conditions, the SPB-8C features a solid construction consisting of a rugged yet light polycarbonate platform with an extruded aluminum chassis and a 13.75-in. by 26.75-in. Velcro™ sheet. This construction ensures secure, non-slip performance for up to eight effects boxes and pedals.

The SPB-8C features a new durable polyethylene hardshell case, which is large enough to accommodate the pedal board and all attached effects, allowing the musician to keep all pedals and stompboxes connected instead of having to reconstruct at each gig. A retractable handle and inline skate wheels allow for easy transport, while heavy-duty latches ensure the case will remain securely closed when not in use.

The new pedal board offers Furman‘s legendary surge and short circuit protection, in addition to standard-level RFI/EMI filtering, while providing noiseless performance by utilizing a high-quality toroid transformer. Each DC output is rated at 120 mA, and is individually protected against shorts, guaranteeing that if one output fails, the remaining will continue to function.

The SPB-8C is currently available at a suggested retail price of $430.
