HaiVision Launches SHARE-HD — Multistream High-Definition Synchronous Network Video Recording for Medical, Military, and Education

MONTREAL — Jan. 21, 2009

— HaiVision Systems Inc., the world’s leading vendor of performance H.264 network video codecs, today announces SHARE-HD Network Video Recorder — a performance network video appliance capable of recording up to 10 simultaneous streams of high-definition (HD) or WXGA content. SHARE-HD is designed for medical, military, and educational network video systems and can record multiple HD, SD, and computer network video streams with perfect synchronization enabling in-context session review.

Medical skills training, advanced classrooms, and mission critical military events and simulations all have an important commonality — multiple video and real-time information sources are required to completely understand and review the context of the event. For example, within medical training, today’s procedure rooms have multiple HD cameras — endoscopes (internal cameras), in-light cameras, room cameras, as well as various imaging modalities and vital statistics systems (typically delivered to standard computer displays). With SHARE-HD, medical educators can capture all room sources simultaneously, apply appropriate metadata, and replay entire sessions either within a computer-based soft player or directly to network video decoders or set-top boxes for full context session review. SHARE-HD is capable of capturing and replaying HD video streams with perfect synchronization.

With HaiVision’s hai1000â„¢ and the hai1000 MAKO-HD codec technology, multiple HD and computer screen sources can be encoded in real time within a single system. These streams can be simultaneously sent over the network to a centrally located SHARE-HD server for recording as well as to multiple other network destinations using HaiVision’s Logical Multicast technology. Because multiple network destinations are supported with the hai1000, performance viewing is not affected by the recording process. Each encoder can transmit simultaneously (in unicast or multicast) to multiple destinations (for example to a conference room, across the country to a viewing theater, to the SHARE-HD record server, and to an AdobeA® FlashA® based content server for Web viewing). Equally, SHARE-HD can replay the session on multiple video streams to any network destination.

“HaiVision is the leader in providing the highest performance multistream high-definition video for telepresence,” states Peter Maag, HaiVision’s VP of marketing. “With SHARE-HD, HaiVision delivers network video recording for applications ranging from the most basic real-time camera and presentation record challenge to the most complex multicamera simulation environments.”

SHARE-HD records industry standard H.264 video and AAC audio and is resolution independent. The SHARE-HD network video record server can be controlled through its Web interface or via a command line interface through standard room controllers.
