IBC 2023 sees Calrec announce it’s launching into German market for the first time via new partnership with Cerberus Media Solutions

Hebden Bridge, September 15th 2023 — At IBC 2023, Calrec, leading designer and supplier of broadcast audio mixing consoles and equipment, is introducing its suite of cutting edge solutions to the German broadcast market for the first time. Via a new partnership with broadcast audio specialists, Cerberus Media Solutions, German broadcasters now benefit from fully integrated distribution and support services, using the decades of experience provided by this collaboration.

Bavaria-based Cerberus Media Solutions was set up in 2023 by pro-audio experts, gaining their expertise through years working across the industry for StageTec. Cerberus Co-Founder and MD Rene Harder, who rose to MD after a successful career working across pro-audio IT technology/software creation and technical business development, said, “We founded Cerberus Media Solutions for the distribution of pro audio products to broadcasters across Germany. We could clearly see there were – and are – significant gaps in the market across the country when it comes to broadcast IP technologies and understanding, alongside remote production deployment. Calrec leads the market globally across these fields: this is a huge win for us and for the German broadcast sector.”

Cerberus already has extensive, in-depth relationships with broadcasters, OB service and technology suppliers as well as system integrators. Dave Letson, VP of Sales at Calrec, said, “The problems Cerberus has identified across the German market, Calrec already has solutions for. One of the key topics we have discussed is the challenges around remote production; we’re hugely experienced, with a global reputation for excellence, via already-implemented solutions with broadcasters of all sizes.

“Calrec has well-established relationships with many system integrators who operate across the German market via projects completed in other countries. These System Integrators already have a good level of understanding with Cerberus able to leverage this to everyone’s advantage.”

Harder also pinpointed Calrec’s level of IP expertise. He said, “Spending time with Calrec, it’s mind-blowing the level at which Calrec is operating when it comes to IP. We’re talking about fully future-proofed solutions, scalable from the relatively simple with the small form factor, powerful Type R remote mixing capabilities, right up to the flagship Argo. We can create structured, elegant workflows, tailored to specific broadcasters’ needs. Calrec has long-standing relationships with other manufactures and huge real-world experience of deploying SMPTE 2110 and NMOS systems.”

He also highlights the fact that Calrec is part of the Audiotonix group of pro-audio brands, meaning practical benefits for customers when it comes to component purchasing power and wider supply chain issues, undoubtedly a key challenge across the industry.

Letson said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Cerberus to allow broadcasters across Germany to take full advantage of our highly evolved, field-proven solutions. We’ve been particularly impressed with their support infrastructure and their exceptional level of technical understanding. One of the key challenges of pushing much further into the German market is not only gaining sales, but the ability to support customers through a transition to IP and in the long term with a clear understanding of German workflows. Cerberus absolutely has this covered, which is vital for German broadcasters.”
