Matrox Ships New Multichannel 3G, HD, and SD I/O Cards for Developers

Cost-Effective Matrox DSX LE3 Cards Already Designed Into Professional Products From AmberFin and EditShare

LAS VEGAS — April 16, 2012 — Matrox(R) Video Products Group today introduced the Matrox DSX LE3 family of cost-effective I/O cards for developers of video servers, broadcast graphics systems, channel-in-a-box products, and live streaming solutions. These new cards, in conjunction with the industry-leading Matrox DSX SDK, enable equipment manufacturers to create innovative, rock-solid broadcast solutions at breakthrough price points.

To suit a variety of needs, various SDI I/O configurations are available, including four inputs for ingest, four outputs for playout, or a combination of inputs and outputs. All SDI inputs and outputs are completely independent and provide support for embedded audio and ancillary data. The A¾-length PCIe cards feature BNC connectors directly onboard to simplify wiring. Several leading OEMs have announced products based on Matrox DSX LE3 cards. Among these products are AmberFin iCR Player, a cost-effective professional-standard media player with HD-SDI output for broadcast grade monitoring, and EditShare Geevs Post, a low-cost multipurpose ingest and playout server for post-production environments.

“iCR Player solves the challenge facing so many enterprises today of how to improve media monetization by adding metadata, segmenting, and quality control review,” said Bruce Devlin, chief technology officer at AmberFin. “Using the new Matrox DSX LE3 card in the system helps us reliably achieve this functionality without requiring the end customer to pay a king’s ransom to equip a facility.”

“We chose the new Matrox DSX LE3 card for our new Geevs Post server because of its two-in and two-out HD-SDI capability and cost-effective price. The post-production environment is very price-conscious, but also technically demanding, so this is exactly what we required,” said Tara Montford, managing director at EditShare. “Our experience using the robust Matrox SDK on previous products enabled us to get this new product up and running in just a few days, which was a huge advantage.”

“Matrox is renowned among broadcast equipment manufacturers the world over for 24/7 hardware reliability, a feature-rich SDK, and superior applications engineering support,” said Alberto Cieri, senior director of sales and marketing, Matrox. “With the launch of Matrox DSX LE3 cards, we are continuing to offer all of that, but at a breakthrough price point that will allow our OEM customers to deliver extremely cost-effective complete solutions.”

Matrox Developer Products will be demonstrated at the 2012 NAB Show in booth SL5115. AmberFin iCR Player will be shown in booth SU9005. EditShare Geevs Post will be shown in booth SL9012.
