MediaStar Systems Launches Game-Changing Media Portal 4.0

New portal offers unique support for HDCP Professional at the desktop

MediaStar Systems, developer of the powerful MediaStar range of IPTV, streaming and digital signage solutions, has announced the launch of the new Media Portal 4.0, the latest and most significant element in MediaStar’s HDCP Professional ecosystem. The Portal, which gives users easy access to the media assets held in a MediaStar system, now supports play-out of unencrypted streamed content and decrypts AES and HDCP Professional streams directly from MediaStar encoders.

MediaStar has made considerable design changes to both its Media Manager and Media Portal products to provide a solution that will allow support for HDCP Professional at the desktop. This is essential for customers who want to ensure they have a secure and encrypted connection across their entire signal path and remain in full compliance with HDCP Professional standards.

Shaun Oxenham, CEO at MediaStar Systems, said: “With the introduction of the MediaStar Media Portal 4.0, we are able to guarantee that any HDCP Professional input from any broadcaster or content provider streamed across MediaStar media players and desktops is completely legal and fully compliant. This is ideal for customers who want the reassurance of knowing that, regardless of the number of screens or locations on their network, the content will be HDCP Professional protected right through to the desktop. It is a game-changer for our industry, a solution that is unique in the market, developed directly in response to customer requests.”

MediaStar HDCP Professional Ecosystem
The HDCP Professional ecosystem now comprises three distinct, but interconnected product elements:
• The MediaStar 798 HDCP Professional enabled encoder, which takes premium protected content from external providers and distributes it legally onto a LAN encoded in HDCP Professional format using an HDCP Professional key embedded on the encoder.
• The content is then legally decoded through the MediaStar 782 HDCP Professional enabled IPTV Media Portal, which also has an HDCP Professional key embedded in hardware to decode the content.
• Play out is managed through the new MediaStar Media Portal 4.0, which can support both HDCP Professional and AES.

Existing customers using Media Manager, Media Portal and HDCP Professional Encoders will need a simple adjustment to add the Key Server to their system to take advantage of the new feature. It comes in the form of a hot swap blade that can be plugged directly into a MediaStar rack. Pre-purchased media access keys are factory loaded under secure conditions and one Key Server will support 10,000 media players, making it highly scalable for corporate organisations. Currently the solution is available only for PCs.

The MediaStar Systems product portfolio provides IPTV, digital signage, and multimedia distribution. These solutions are primarily used by medium to large enterprises requiring future-proof, stable solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training, and digital signage.
