PPC Announces New CompPro™ Line of Compression Connectors for 50-Ohm Braided Cable

EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. — July 21, 2009 — PPC, the global leader in connector technology and innovation, today introduced its CompProâ„¢ line of compression connectors for 50-ohm braided cable. Revolutionizing the wireless marketplace, the new connectors provide carriers with a watertight connection, easier installation, and improved system reliability, while lowering operational costs and customer churn.

The CompPro line of high-quality connectors will dramatically reduce service calls over time for wireless carriers. As with all PPC connectors, the new line offers patented 360 degree compression that seals out moisture, dust, and air, thereby reducing downtime and maintenance over a cell site’s entire life cycle. The CompPro connectors feature industry-high pull strength of 200 pounds, ensuring the devices will stay firmly in place, while a solid, one-piece construction provides an easy, one-minute installation. With no assembly required, the potential for loose or lost parts is significantly reduced.

“In an increasingly competitive environment in which customers are growing more and more dependent on their wireless phones, carriers that can provide superior network quality will have a distinct advantage in attracting new customers and in keeping existing customers satisfied,” said Kirk Parsons, senior director of wireless services at J.D. Power and Associates. “In fact, improving network quality and expanding coverage translates into potential revenue benefits for wireless carriers, as customers who report recently switching from their previous carrier as a result of poor call quality are likely to spend up to $5 more per month for their new service, compared with the industry average. Essentially, wireless customers are willing to pay a premium for an exceptional network.”

“When installing a cell site, carriers must consider the true cost of poor connections: money spent on tower climbers, lost system time, and discarded material can add up to much more than the original material cost — not to mention increasing the risk of customers becoming unhappy with their service and changing providers,” said Paul DeVitto wireless product manager for PPC. “The patented technologies in the CompPro connectors reduce service calls and operational expenses, while increasing customer retention, through superior long-term RF performance, high-pull strength, and waterproof sealing.”

PPC offers a complete line of CompPro connectors in a full range of sizes and styles, each compatible with multiple cable manufacturers. Installers can reduce inventory and cut down on spare parts as a result of the cross compatibility and design flexibility that the CompPro line offers.
