PreSonus Unveils Atom Pad Controller

Baton Rouge, LA (November 15, 2018)—PreSonus has released the Atom pad controller, intended for use in both performance and production environments.

The unit is intended to help users produce beats, play virtual instruments, and trigger sound effects and loops in real time. The Atom, which connects to a computer via a USB cable, is centered around 16 RGB pads with selectable pad velocity curves and pressure thresholds, eight assignable pad banks and other controls. The unit also sports four program programmable rotary encoders and 20 assignable buttons.

While reportedly compatible with most music software, Atom is primarily intended for use with PreSonus’ Studio One Artist production software, which comes with the unit. When used with Studio One, Atom helps users browse virtual instruments and add them to a session, change instrument presets, create loop points and navigate the timeline, change song tempo, edit and quantize MIDI events, zoom in and out on the timeline or events, control Studio One’s transport and more.mable rotary encoders and 20 assignable buttons.

Aside from production applications, the velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads can be used for playing virtual instruments live.
