Professional Video Alliance To Offer First of Dolby Approved Training

The Professional Video Alliance (PVA) is thrilled to receive 'Dolby Approved' status for its comprehensive calibration training. PVA will host its first –four-day session under the new status in Amsterdam on Sept. 18-20, following IBC 2023.

The Professional Video Alliance (PVA) is thrilled to receive ‘Dolby Approved’ status for its comprehensive calibration training. PVA will host its first –four-day session under the new status in Amsterdam on Sept. 18-20, following IBC 2023.

“We’re proud to join forces with Dolby as an education partner to become the first calibration training program to achieve the highly coveted ‘Dolby Approved’ status,” stated Gregg Loewen, Founder of PVA. “This exciting partnership will give PVA access to Dolby’s knowledgeable staff and exceptional training materials, ensuring that information on Dolby Vision is up-to-date and accurate. This collaboration will allow PVA to enhance our curriculum and provide valuable insights for both companies through the global network of skilled calibration professionals who receive the training.”

The ICA Video Training, with PVA Certification, is certified by the International Colorist Academy (ICA). Students experience Core training during the first two days, and the following days include Advanced training with HDR calibrati

on. The PVA is the only organization to teach HDR calibration and how it relates to reference projector systems.

Topics covered in the PVA curriculum include color theory, monitor and projector calibration techniques, creation of 3D LUTs, manipulation of color management systems, video system workflows, and application of new technology, including 4K and 8K resolutions, HDR, HDR10, HDR10 Plus, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

In 2016, PVA Founder Gregg Loewen began a partnership with the International Colorist Academy (ICA) to offer instructor-led video training for post-production professionals. The ICA is known worldwide for its excellence in quality standards among post-production professionals and is at the forefront of the industry relating to future technologies and standards.
