Scaling, Scan Conversion, Switching, Edge Blending and Warping : Calibre launches three new HQView™ models at InfoComm 2010

At the top of the new introductions the HQView520 comprises warp mapping and edge blend. This model is ideal for geometric correction and blending using multiple projectors on to curved screens as well as for 3D dual stacked projector alignment.

In what is understood to be the largest range of dedicated scaler, switcher and processors with soft edge blend and warp capabilities available in the market, Calibre UK will unveil their latest three models of their

HQViewâ„¢

range of processors alongside their flagship image warp processor at InfoComm 2010.

In the lead-up to the show, the company will also reveal the latest high-profile North American installation. Adding to the company’s increasing presence in the USA market, the industry’s smallest and greenest edge blend and warp processor will be displayed in the Sustainable Products Showcase at InfoComm.

The new HQView500 series universal video scalers and scan converters for professional audio visual applications will be launched at InfoComm 2010. The models in the range feature scaling, switching, scan conversion, up, down and cross conversion, edge blend, geometry correction and warp mapping.

All three models accept a wide range of HD, SD & Computer inputs including

3G-SDI, DVI, HDMI, YPbPr/RGBS, VGA/RGBHV, S-Video, Composite PAL NTSC & SECAM. Outputs include 3G-SDI, DVI/HDMI, VGA/RGBHV formats with support for progressive and interlace output modes and genlock to bi-level sync, tri-level sync or black & burst.

The

HQView500

is a universal scaler, switcher and scan converter with geometry correction and 3G-SDI input and output connectivity with backwards compatibility with HD-SDI and SD-SDI.

The

HQView510

adds geometry correction and edge blend for multi-projector tiling on flat screens.

At the top of the new introductions the

HQView520

comprises warp mapping and edge blend. This model is ideal for geometric correction and blending using multiple projectors on to curved screens as well as for 3D dual stacked projector alignment.

The three models join an already existing HQView model range including the

HQView200, HQView320, HQView420, HQView400DC

. The products are the first of their kind to make state-of-the-art image processing available to a wider market, with a smaller footprint, a straightforward user interface, and very attractive price points.

The compact

HQView320

will be seen in the Sustainable Products Showcase at InfoComm thanks to its 12W operating level promising edge blending for 1, 2, 3 or 4 edges. The unit also can perform powerful geometry correction and image warping.

Also on show is the powerful new PVProHD-IW professional HD HQV image scaler with warping, rotation and edge blend for use in a virtually unlimited range of projection applications. Warping of any projector images can be performed for display onto many surfaces including extreme off-angle projection, curved screens and unusual or non-geometric shapes. The product is seamlessly set-up from a standard laptop or PC. PVProHD-IW intuitively recalculates warp parameters as required to suit input resolution changes, aspect ratio, height, width and overscan adjustments without the need to load a separate warp map for each input configuration.

The blending of multiple projectors is performed using Calibre’s proprietary algorithms which allow precise control of blend S-curve, gamma and blend region width and can work with 1, 2, 3 or 4 blend regions per projector.

Black level correction is also provided with independent control of up to 9 regions with 10-bit adjustment of granularity. Importantly blend processing is 16-bit accurate for de-gamma, blend, black level correction and re-gamma to ensure crisp, clean images without introduction of black level noise or greyscale banding.
