will perform during the
136th Annual White House Easter Egg Roll
on Monday, April 21. This year’s theme, “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape,” promotes the education of families on smart ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise choices into their daily routine. For her part, 11-year-old DJ sensation, DJ Young 1, will spin two 20-minute sessions, using Stanton’s
STR8.150 turntable
and

, with a mixture of classic and modern hits to get attendees and TV viewers “hopping” from their seats.
More than 30,000 people will assemble on the South Lawn of the White House to join in the fun. The event will feature live music, sports, cooking stations, storytelling and, of course, Easter egg rolling. A traditional turntabilist who is inspired by many genres, including old school hip-hop, top 40 pop, reggae, electro/club and house music, DJ Young 1 is sure to put on quite a show and is calling on fans of all ages to join her in supporting First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative.
“I’m so glad that Mrs. Obama has invited me to join her for this famous and prestigious event!,” says DJ Young 1, the youngest-ever graduate of Jam Master Jay’s Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles. “With all of this great Stanton gear at my fingertips, my mom and I always have impromptu dance sessions, whether we’re at home or on the road. We’re excited to show other families that there’s no better way to exercise than to get off the couch and party with family and friends. It’s great for you, and you won’t even realize you’re exercising!”
A Stanton endorsed artist, DJ Young 1’s musical influence dates back to her mom, Ellen, playing jazz and old school hip-hop throughout her pregnancy. Music continues to be not only a great source of energy, but also a relaxing ritual for the duo. DJ Young 1 credits Charlie Parker, The Ohio Players, Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master Jay and Run D.M.C. for her talent an inspiration.
“With a musical style that’s reminiscent of my own childhood, I know that DJ Young 1 will definitely be a hit at the White House Easter Egg Roll,” says friend, mentor and fellow Stanton endorsed artist, DJ Spark. “It’s really awesome to see her talents getting recognition on such a national level. We couldn’t be more proud of DJ Young 1 for this event and all of her accomplishments!”
DJ Young 1 is quickly becoming a rising star and has already made several high-profile appearances, including the San Francisco Supper Club; Pride Celebrations in Los Angeles and Oakland, California; the Washington D.C. and Los Angeles Human Rights Campaign Galas; The GrammyA® Awards Gifting Suite; and a spotlight on the Queen Latifah Show. She’s also made cameo appearances in music videos, Tonight by Jessica Sanchez featuring Ne-Yo and Cravin by MC Lyte, and competed on the NBC reality competition America’s Got Talent. Despite all of her early fame, DJ Young 1’s mom continues to be in awe of each of her daughter’s accomplishments.

As a token of thanks from the First Lady, DJ Young 1 will take home a Souvenir White House Easter egg. An annual keepsake since 1981, when President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan hosted a hunt for wooden eggs that bore the signatures of famous people, the Souvenir egg tradition continues this year with four colorful eggs and the official First Dog’s egg, which features First Dog’s Bo and Sunny.
