TAG Video Systems Adds Support for NDI 5 and SRT as Part of Ongoing Platform Enhancement
Tel Aviv, Israel – September 16, 2021 – TAG Video Systems, the leader in realtime, software-based deep monitoring of linear video workflows, has announced that it has added support for NDI 5 and SRT, two protocols that dramatically increase connectivity and signal transport options and open the door to greater collaboration and creativity. This development is in line with TAG’s continuous platform enhancement initiative that focuses on providing customers the quickest possible access to emerging technologies for future-proof workflows.
NDI 5 (Network Device Interface)
NDI (Network Device Interface) is a realtime low latency IP video network technology that enables TAG customers to build IP-based video networks and realize many of the benefits of uncompressed video IP networks without the associated complications, expense and performance requirements. With support for NDI 5, the latest version of NDI, TAG customers can automatically discover and connect to a wide range of NDI sources from cameras and switchers to PCs, phones, tablets and video conferencing applications such as Skype. Using NDI, TAG customers can capture the output from PCs making it simple to add websites, PC UIs and video conference participants as tiles on a TAG mosaic. TAG also enables NDI as an output format, providing an inexpensive, low-latency and high-quality connection to display devices.
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport)
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is an open-source transport protocol originally developed by Haivision that allows for robust transmission of high-quality high-bandwidth video signals over public internet, unmanaged networks and WANs, and similar networks with unpredictable performance without loss or impairments. With minimal latency, SRT can assure transport of signals across these networks with no loss of quality while also providing encryption to protect content during transit. With support for SRT, TAG customers can acquire signals from distant sources and transmit multiviewer mosaics to distant viewers, even at-home remote workers with SRT plugins for desktop monitoring. SRT is widely used in cloud workflows and ground to cloud/cloud to ground links to build live linear cloud workflows. Adding SRT support to TAG’s existing support for Zixi, AWS’ MediaConnect and CDI and codecs such as JPEG-XS enables customers to build highly interoperable multi-vendor low-latency systems that pave the way for transformative end-to-end cloud media workflows.
Kevin Joyce, TAG’s Zer0 Friction Officer, commented, “As always, in keeping with TAG’s Zer0-Friction™ paradigm, all current TAG customers upgrading to the latest version of TAG software can enable our latest features including NDI and SRT at no additional cost or changes to their licenses.”
