West Bend Mutual Insurance Partners with InfoCor and NanoLumens to Deliver Seamless Boardroom Video

When West Bend Mutual Insurance decided to update the audiovisual technologies at its West Bend, Wisconsin headquarters, they recognized that one room in particular needed the most cutting-edge video display available – the boardroom where both internal and external senior-level executives hold meetings. According to West Bend’s facilities engineer, Joe Philipps, they considered a wide range of display options, ultimately deciding that an 8-foot-wide by 4.5-foot-tall, 1.87mm pixel pitch NanoLumens LED display would provide a brilliant, seamless presentation system for years to come.

“I asked our integrator, InfoCor, to give us options, including everything from the least expensive solution to the latest and greatest technologies,” Philipps said. “Once we learned that NanoLumens’ seamless LED displays require much less maintenance and have the longest display warranty in the industry, we knew this was the right choice.”

While West Bend considered other solutions, Philipps said most of them presented drawbacks when compared with NanoLumens LED displays. The boardroom previously used projection for video with a motorized projector mount and drop-down screen, both of which require setup time and are noisy – especially the projector’s fan that must run during operation. LCD video walls were quickly ruled out due to the inescapable grid of bezels that LCD panels create.

“This display is regularly used by our leadership team and business partners, so we wanted one giant screen that would offer a large, seamless, and crisp view,” Philipps added.

According to InfoCor, the integration firm that introduced West Bend to NanoLumens and installed the equipment, the NanoLumens displays offer a wide-variety of shapes, sizes, and curvatures, and are easy to install and maintain with front accessibility. NanoLumens’ Nixel-based design allows them to build any size display out of small LED panels that fit together seamlessly, delivering much easier maintenance than LCD video walls.

“We’ve built traditional LCD panel video walls, but for a boardroom, a single large display is really the best option,” said Todd Kroeger, InfoCor project manager. “Almost everything in this boardroom is new, from the video conferencing cameras to the control system, but the NanoLumens display is the thing everybody sees, where everybody is looking during meetings. Whether it’s used for video conferencing, presentations or viewing videos, the bright, crystal clear NanoLumens display gives West Bend the precise, crisp views they wanted.”

InfoCor upgraded much of the boardroom’s technology, integrating new Polycom cameras, a new BiAmp DSP audio processor and a Crestron control system. Presenters can connect to the room’s audiovisual equipment through a Barco ClickShare wireless presentation system, three hard-wired tabletop connections, and a dedicated PC on a lectern.

“We’re very pleased with this new system,” Philipps said. “It’s a great thing to get the right technology at the right price, and that’s exactly what InfoCor and NanoLumens delivered.”
