ICIA announced its intent to purchase a database of 80,000 A/V products by more than 500 industry manufacturers from Pacifiq Technologies. The acquisition has the potential to revolutionize ICIA’s level of service to its members by providing them an electronic library of product specifications. A/V dealers, independent representatives, design consultants and other trade members will have access to the largest and most comprehensive database of unbiased product information assembled in the industry, as well as online customized solutions. This new venture will be the third component of ICIA’s strategy to provide leading information services augmenting the INFOCOMM trade shows and ICIA’s Academy education programs.

This new information service will operate over the Internet, providing technology overviews, detailed product specifications and the technical aspects of specific applications. ICIA president Spencer Bullins said, “Using this new product as an industry-wide portal will strengthen our offerings and empower our member organizations to conduct their businesses with rapid, convenient access to up-to-date product information.”
