Disney+, Hulu, Max streaming bundle launches in ad-supported and ad-free tiers

Users can save by bundling, but resolutions supported by each platform are unclear

Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced the launch of the previously revealed streaming bundle of Disney +, Hulu, and Max. Available now, the new bundle comes in both ad-free and ad-supported tiers. Users can sign up for the ad-free tier for $29.99 a month, or include ads for $16.99 a month. To compare, the price for all three platforms separately would add up to $47.97, or $25.97, respectively.

Some details are not immediately clear, however. The official release notes that Max is offered in Full HD (1080p) for both the ad-free and ad-supported tiers of the bundle, with no information on the streaming resolution of the other platforms. Meanwhile, Max supports 4K Ultra HD for select content if a user subscribes to the Max Ultimate Ad-Free Plan. This option does not appear to be available with the bundle.

The following was originally published May 13, 2024:

Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced an unprecedented bundling of the Disney+, Hulu, and Max streaming platforms. The major media companies revealed that the bundle would become available this summer, while no pricing or official launch date has been announced.

“This new offering delivers for consumers the greatest collection of entertainment for the best value in streaming, and will help drive incremental subscribers and much stronger retention,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Games, Warner Bros. Discovery. “Offering this unprecedented entertainment value for fans across all the complimentary genres these three services offer, presents a powerful new roadmap for the future of the industry.”

The new bundle comes hot on the heels of Disney integrating Hulu content into its Disney+ platform, though the new bundle will see each platform’s content housed in each separate app. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery detailed that the bundle would be available via the official website of any of the three platforms, and that an ad-supported and ad-free plan will be offered. While pricing has not yet been made available, the companies say more details will be revealed in the coming months.
