Dolby Laboratories has filed a lawsuit against Roku, accusing the streaming company of breaking its licensing agreement and infringing on patents. Dolby says that Roku signed a licensing agreement in 2015, updating the agreement the following year to allow Roku to use its technology under specific conditions, including payment of royalties.

Dolby claims that Roku has since been “improperly integrating” its technology into its products since the licensing agreement was made in an attempt to “more attractive to potential customers” while increasing Dolby’s expenses. The lawsuit further claims that Roku has lied about how its technology has been integrated into its products, and that the company has refused to cooperate with an audit by Dolby. Dolby is asking for damages, along with an order blocking Roku from improperly integrating its technology going forward.
