Last week saw Samsung introduce their line of 2024 QD-OLED monitors, featuring refresh rates of up to 360Hz. Just a day later, LG responded by announcing the development of what is claimed to be the world’s first 480Hz 1440p OLED panel.
Though LG had already announced a 32″ 480Hz OLED monitor, that monitor has to downscale its resolution to Full HD (180p) in order to maintain such a refresh rate, whereas the upcoming OLED panel runs at 480Hz natively.

“LG Display’s latest Gaming OLED display leverages the company’s unique OLED technology, which allows each pixel to emit light independently without a backlight unit, to deliver an unprecedented 480Hz refresh rate, immersive QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution, and the fastest response time (0.03ms) of any panel on the market today,” reads LG Display’s announcement.
The panel measures 27″ and is slated for a release in the “first half” of this year.
