It seems that LG is the first TV manufacturer to support Dolby Atmos for Apple Music, following the newest update for the app. Apple revealed that it would be adding Dolby Atmos support for Apple Music in 2021, but since then, there hasn’t been much support for the immersive audio format’s addition outside of the Apple ecosystem.
The folks at FlatPanelsHD were able to confirm that Dolby Atmos was available through Apple Music on a 2020 LG GX OLED TV, leading us to believe that the same should be true for all LG TVs from 2020 onward that support the format, though technically LG TVs have been supporting Dolby Atmos in general since 2017.
Apple AirPlay finally available at select hotels
So far, the only other way to enjoy Apple Music’s Dolby Atmos support via a TV is through an Apple TV 4K, a digital media player box that can be connected to a TV. While other music streaming platforms like Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and Tidal feature support for Dolby Atmos, the feature is not available yet through LG TVs.
