LG is expanding its quirky StanbyME line with the addition of a portable speaker that can function as a soundbar with the rest of the series. The StanbyME line of products consists of some unique ideas, including the original StanbyME TV, a wireless, freestanding display on wheels, and the StanbyME Go tablet-like TV in a suitcase.

At its most basic, the StanbyME Speaker functions as a portable Bluetooth speaker featuring 20-mm dual tweeters , an IPX5 rating, and up to 16 hours of playback. What makes the speaker part of the collection, however, is its ability to transform into a soundbar for the StanbyME TV. The speaker comes with a mounting cradle that allows it to attach to the display’s stand, and can be controlled via the TV’s remote. When functioning as a soundbar, the speaker utilizes LG’s WOW Orchestra feature, which, according to LG, makes for a more immersive audio experience. This in combination with the speaker’s Alpha7 Gen 6 AI processor optimizes the StanbyME Speaker’s capabilities when functioning as a soundbar for its companion display.
The StanbyME Speaker is available now for a retail price of $199.99.
