WATCH: Stuck ride leaves passengers hanging upside down 75 feet in the air

After 30 minutes, riders on board the Lumberjack ride at Canada's Wonderland were let off safely

Some park goers at the Canada’s Wonderland amusement park in Ontario were anything but amused when they were left suspended upside down for a half hour. Riders of the Lumberjack attraction were hanging headfirst 75 feet above the ground when both of the ride’s “axes” (hydraulic arms that carry the passengers) suddenly stopped at 10:45 pm, leaving the attendees helpless.

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, and in some clips park staff can be heard speaking to the stuck passengers through a megaphone, asking if they were ok. The question was met with a loud, resounding “No!”

When the ride began to move again approximately 30 minutes after getting stuck, the ride’s cycle apparently had to complete before the disoriented passengers were allowed off. An 11 year old that was stuck on the ride commented to CBS News, “The ride had to still finish. So the ride kept going and we’re all like, ‘No, please, I don’t want to get stuck again.”

Wonderland staff has not revealed the reason for the ride malfunction, but did comment that all guests were taken off the ride safely and checked for any injuries.
