Samsung Display has announced that they have begun mass production of 31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED panels, with production predicted to ramp up substantially next year.
The panels feature a 140 ppi, a peak refresh rate of 360Hz, with availability slated for early 2024. Samsung Display also announced that it predicts it will double shipments of QD-OLED panels next year.
Researchers’ breakthrough could lead to cheaper OLED production
“Samsung Display, which drives the growth of the high-end display market with QD-OLED, announced on December 13 that it will start the mass production of 31.5-inch UHD (3840×2160) resolution QD-OLED from this month,” reads Samsung’s press release. “This new product has achieved the highest pixel density and UHD resolution in self-emissive displays.”
Samsung Display has utilized an inkjet-printing method for these panels to the quantum dot layer to achieve UHD resolution.
