Samsung continued as the OLED TV leader in 2023

With 1.01 million units sold of OLED TVs, Samsung captured 22.7% of the market share

Samsung has announced that it has continued its streak as market leader in the TV sector for the 18th year in a row, citing market research firm Omdia. According to Omdia, Samsung held a 30.1% share of the global TV market in 2023, credited to the company’s focus on premium, large-screen OLED and QLED TVs. Specifically, the report states that Samsung managed to sell 1.01 million OLED TVs in 2023, a metric that represents 22.7% of the market share.

Omdia’s study shows Samsung holding a 60.5% market share in sales for TVs priced over $2,500, as well as a lead of 33.9% in sales for TVs over 75 inches.

Samsung TVs to retroactively lose Google Assistant

This announcement comes shortly after the news that Samsung has completed a deal with LG Display that will see Samsung receive 5 million OLED panels from LG over the next five years. This deal followed multiple years of negotiations between the two companies that ultimately resulted in Samsung’s utilization of LG Display’s WOLED and LCD panels.

“We are proud to be recognized as the market leader in the global TV sector for 18 consecutive years, a testament to the enduring trust and loyalty our customers place in Samsung,” said SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are deeply committed to advancing the industry, moving beyond exceptional picture quality to offer more meaningful and valuable experiences.”
