New technology wants to place a flexible OLED display on your credit card

Sentry Enterprises is betting these battery-free screens increase brand loyalty

Following fintech company Sentry Enterprises‘ recent acquisition of credit card tech manufacturer X-Core Technologies has allowed the company take credit cards in a unique direction. Called the Radiance card illumination platform, this technology leverages Konica Minolta’s ultra-thin flexible OLED panel to plant a tiny OLED screen onto your credit card.

Airlines to feature in-flight 4K OLED displays for the first time

The OLED display doesn’t require any batteries, instead utilizing power from the NFC terminal used during a transaction. So far, the example use cases Sentry Enterprises has provided for the OLED display is limited to brand logos, with the idea that the credit card light show will drive brand loyalty and engagement. Senior Vice President of Advanced Fintech Solutions at Sentry Enterprises, Tim Wright, pitches Radiance as “the aggressive market disruptor that will deliver distinct experiences and brand differentiation for years to come.”  The company says Radiance is ready for Via and Mastercard certification, while also keeping the technology open to other partnerships.
