Sony introduces three new Bravia Theater audio products

Bravia line expands with a new soundbar, sound system, and set of wireless rear speakers

Sony has announced that it is expanding its line of Bravia Theater line of soundbars with a trio of new products: Bar 6, Theater 6, and Rear 8.

Pitched as an entry-level Bravia soundbar option, the Bar 6 is a 3.1.2ch soundbar with a wireless subwoofer with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support for immersive audio. Sony says that its included upmixer technology aims to create three-dimensional sound while enabling clear dialogue. The Bar 6 features two upwards-facing drivers and three front-facing drivers, and an AI-powered feature called Voice Zoom 3 is said to amplify or reduce human voices to ensure all dialogue is heard.

For additional surround sound, the Bravia Theater 6 includes the Bar 6, and adds on a subwoofer and rear speakers to create a 5.1ch sound system. All components of the Theater 6 support the same feature set that comes with the Bar 6, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Voice Zoom 3, Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine, and S-Force PRO Front Surround technology. Additionally, the Theater 6 includes a Multi Stereo Mode that Sony says replicates stereo sound from left/right to center/rears for a multi-directional sound boost.

Finally, the Rear 8 is a pair of rear speakers that connect wirelessly to the company’s soundbars to create an enhanced 360 spatial sound experience optimized for a specific home setting using Sony’s unique 360 Spatial Sound Mapping-technology. Not to be confused with the rear speakers that come with the Theater 6, the Rear 8 allow for a setup that is customized to a particular room’s setup.

No pricing or release information has been made available for the trio of new Bravia audio products, but this article will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
