WATCH: Concept laptop’s monitor rolls out to a 24-inch ultrawide display

Lenovo's proven that they are willing to take rollable displays to market, and looks to fill a new niche with an ultrawide laptop screen

Lenovo is doubling down on laptops with expandable displays, with the company revealing the Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable concept laptop at CES last week. Lenovo launched the market’s first roll-out display laptop last year with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, but is taking things in a new direction with this year’s concept. Designed in partnership with TCL CSOT, the Legion Pro begins with a 16-inch display that can then be expanded to a 24-inch ultrawide with a 24:9 aspect ratio. At 16-inches, the display sports a 2048×1280 resolution that increases to 3413×1280 when completely extended.

Like the Thinkbook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, the expanding/contracting of the display is handled by a “dual-motor, tension-based system” that keeps noise and vibrations to a minimum. While only a concept, Lenovo has shown that they are willing to take rollable displays to market, and the Legion Pro fills a different niche in the laptop market by expanding horizontally to an ultrawide monitor.
