Backlight Expands Creative Operations Platform with AI-powered Discovery, Live-to-Digital Workflows and Open Connectivity at IBC 2026

Global media technology company Backlight will showcase its latest innovations across Iconik and Wildmoka live video creation and distribution at IBC2026 (booth #1.D09), September 11–14 at the RAI Amsterdam. Building on the unified Creative Operations Platform introduced at NAB Show 2026, Backlight is advancing the story on three fronts: smarter AI-powered discovery, faster live-to-digital production, and a more open, connected platform. That connectivity now reaches all the way to distribution — the company is announcing the general availability of the Iconik Publish Panel, bringing Wildmoka’s publishing tools directly into Iconik.

“Media organizations are creating more content than ever, for more destinations, on tighter timelines — and the tools they rely on have to keep pace without adding complexity,” said Kathleen Barrett, CEO of Backlight. “At IBC2026, we’re showing how Iconik and Wildmoka help teams find content faster, move from a live moment to a finished, published piece in minutes, and connect the tools they already use — all inside one connected platform. It’s our ‘Do more with more’ approach: more intelligence, more connections, without more complexity.”

Smarter discovery and delivery. New AI capabilities are rolling out across Iconik to help teams find what they already have. Editors can now get AI-suggested metadata to review and approve, and search using plain, everyday language instead of guessing at exact tags — turning sprawling libraries into something people can actually search.

The platform simplifies distribution as well. Once content is approved, the Iconik Publish Panel takes it straight to YouTube, Instagram, and other channels without leaving the platform or losing the metadata and approvals attached to it along the way.

Polished presentation. For teams that need to present content to clients or internal stakeholders, the new Brand Portal offers a clean, customizable, and white-labelled interface to showcase approved deliverables and brand assets. Portals are easily searchable and stay live-linked to Iconik, so what stakeholders see is always the current version, distributed from a single source of truth instead of exported to a standalone DAM.

Live-to-digital, faster. With select live-production integrations, editors can already work with growing files while they’re still recording. A new confidence monitor adds visibility to that process — watch, annotate, and open a recording in an editing system while capture is still underway.

On the Wildmoka side, a new AI Moments capability — now in beta — automatically surfaces key moments from a live feed — from a big sports play to a breaking-news beat — so editors can go from feed to finished clip in minutes, not hours.

A more open, flexible platform. Backlight is deepening how Iconik connects to the tools teams already use, including a new MCP Server that lets AI applications connect directly to a customer’s media library, plus a growing set of first-party integrations built to meet teams where they already work.

IBC2026 Demonstrations

Visitors to Backlight’s booth (#1.D09) will see live demonstrations of the latest features across Iconik and Wildmoka, including AI-powered discovery, connected content delivery, growing files, AI Moments, and expanded platform connectivity. In addition to Iconik and Wildmoka, Backlight will also feature the latest innovations across its broader portfolio, including Celtx, Ftrack, and Zype.
