Emergent Appoints Tom Shelburne as Head of Business Development, North America

NEW YORK, October 1, 2026 –  Emergent, the browser-native broadcast graphics platform, today announced the appointment of Tom Shelburne as Head of Business Development, North America, effective immediately. Shelburne rejoins several former Vizrt colleagues on Emergent’s leadership team: CEO Grig Mindlin, Chief Business Officer David Jorba, Chief Creative Officer Miguel Yabrudes, and CTO Wilson Li.

Shelburne is a five-time Emmy winner and former Replay Technical Director for NBC Sunday Night Football. He has led North American growth at Vizrt, Pixotope, and Mo-Sys. At Emergent, he will drive expansion across sports, houses of worship, corporate media production, podcast and new media producers, and the systems integrators who serve them.

“Everything we learned over the years about workflow, render engines, and graphic design has been reimagined,” said Shelburne. “This isn’t a faster version of the old way; it changes how people think about making graphics.”

Emergent is built on WebGPU, the web standard that gives the browser direct access to the graphics processor. It is not only HTML and WebGPU graphics rendering on a browser. It is a complete, hardware-agnostic, enterprise broadcast graphics workflow running natively in the browser. It delivers higher quality than traditional render engines, faster and with nothing to install.

AI is integrated across the workflow, from building graphics and populating them with live data to turning finished segments into social clips and seamlessly managing all your media assets. Customers can use cloud AI services or run their models on-premises. The result is fewer steps and faster turnaround from concept to air.

“Tom has sat in the TD chair and across the table from customers, and they trust him,” said Jorba. “When we built something so different, he was the first person we wanted to see it.”

“This team has brought the industry’s best workflows together in Emergent,” said Shelburne. “The best way to understand it is to open a browser and see it for yourself.”
