The conference will be held from October 21 – 24 at the Loew’s Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, CA.
The Fall Technology Conference brings together many of the brightest minds in television and film production from around the world. Among the topics to be featured this year is Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV), also known as “4K.” The first day of the conference (Monday, October 21) will feature a 4K symposium with twin tracks (business and technical) focused on UHDTV.
Putman will present a paper during this session on the state of consumer UHDTV displays, titled“UHDTV Consumer Update: The Big Picture on Big Pictures.” Earlier in the day, Putman will also moderate a session titled, “4K Delivery: Who Will Step Up?” featuring panelists from Ericsson, eyeIO, and BskyB.
On Day 4 (Thursday, October 24), Putman will chair an afternoon session titled “More, Better, Faster Pixels.” The six presenters in this session will present on a diverse array of topics including new SMPTE standards for UHDTV, a compact 120−Hz 8K camera, multi−link 10 gigabit/second camera interfaces, and a new, immersive 4K hemispheric themed ride in Vancouver, BC.
Putman has been a member of SMPTE for over a decade and serves on the conference’s program committee. He also played keyboards in the SMPTE Jam Band at last year’s banquet and hopes to repeat that performance again in 2013!
