Narduzzo Too takes restoration and grading to a new level with projectiondesign®‘s cineo82 projector

Narduzzo Too based in the heart of the world’s most famous film making community in Pinewood Studios, UK is the latest user of the cineo82 projector from projectiondesign. The projector is used by internationally renowned colorist, Vince Narduzzo and his team for various projects.

Vince Narduzzo takes up the story: “At Narduzzo Too, television work is our core business. Our recent projects include, Lark Rise To Candleford, Five Daughters and Waking The Dead and we are due to start grading a six – part comedy for Channel 4 titled Phoneshop in September. In order to revisit the world of grading feature films we needed to be set up for projection for grading and digital intermediate. With the cineo82 we now have a world class facility and grading environment that is second to none.”?

Over many years Vince has also had a long standing working relationship with brothers, Paul and Peter Sutton at Kaurus and after several demos and discussions regarding various projectors his team decided to go with the cineo82 from projectiondesign.

“Its clarity and accurate colour reproduction creates a true grade 1 environment for both television and film productions, this made it an obvious choice,”? Narduzzo explains.

“Obviously it’s essential that we have the projector for colour correction in feature films but the outcome of having the projector for our TV clients is that there has been a confident switch from monitor to projector. We have kept our Grade 1 monitor in the case that TV clients may want to use it as an alternative, however we’ve not had any requests to revert back or even check back to monitor for picture reference.”?

“The projector has also made a huge difference to our film restoration work, you can really home in on the detail and those areas that need correction are so much more apparent taking restoration to new levels.”?

Vince’s background is in the film labs and with this knowledge it only seemed a natural progression to grade feature films and television work. Among many titles, past feature films include, Brothers Grimm and Tidelands (Terry Gillian), History Boys (Nicholas Hytner) and Mischief Nights (Penny Woolcock).

“The support and help from both Peter and Paul at Kaurus was key throughout this whole process, without their in-depth input and knowledge it would have been a daunting task.”?

Anders LA¸kke, International Marketing & Communications Manager says, “This is yet another success story for us in this market and being involved with Vince and Kaurus has been rewarding indeed. We were especially impressed that they now don’t even look at the grading monitor. It certainly does tell us that with our projection solutions, we’re really doing something right.”?
