Social Media: More Than Networking

NSCA’s A/E Toolkit has been updated with information focused on using social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, etc.) to promote business with improved sales and marketing techniques using increasingly popular social media outlets.

A recent report states that nearly three-quarters of small businesses have not found social media sites useful in generating or expanding business. Experts interpret these results as small businesses intstead focusing on sales and cash flow in a challenging economy, rather than learning new marketing tools. However the report did show that these same respondents use blogs and websites as tools to seek advice and information. In today’s new world of marketing and information, testimonials and customer feedback are instantaneous and can make or break a product or service, and in that climate, social media will continue to grow.

The updated A/E Toolkit provides eight new whitepapers detailing the use of social media to leverage sales and marketing for business purposes.

“The A/E Toolkit’s new content focuses on how NSCA members can benefit from expert perspectives on this new trend toward using social media to build business-to-business relationships,” says Craig Park, FSMPS, associate AIA, vice president, and chief marketing officer for Leo A Daly architects and engineers based in Omaha, Neb. “Now more than ever, NSCA members need to leverage all the tools in the marketing toolkit to help build business.”

The information on www.nsca.org/aetoolkit provides members with information relevant to working within the commercial electronic systems industry, providing success in developing, maintaining, and converting relationships into increased sales.

The A/E Toolkit provides essential resources for systems integrators and contractors, including more than 300 articles on best practices for working within the building industry. Anyone who registers has access to free content; NSCA members have additional access to premium content. To start using the A/E Toolkit, visit www.nsca.org/aetoolkit.
