Cynthia Wisehart on The Wire

As we go to press, SVConline has moved to a new web platform. I really like it. I hope you will too. It’s much faster and allows us to use more art and video and make our longstanding podcast series more visible. I want to use this opportunity to re-introduce you all to one of our most popular sections of the site, The Wire. This is a free, self-publishing platform. Members are free to post press releases, product information, case studies, editorials, whitepapers—or whatever they wish to communicate to our readers. With the move, the platform becomes much easier, quicker, and more powerful. There is the opportunity to quickly build slideshows, embed video, or simply cut and paste your media and publish. It also includes a scheduler where you can set things to publish at a future time/date.

The content that you post to The Wire is seen on the home page and throughout the site. It is automatically attached to other relevant stories as related content. I curate The Wire daily looking for stories to include in my daily newsletter, push to Twitter and Facebook, and pull for print.

I want to emphasize that anyone in the AV community is welcome to join The Wire. Of course we see lots of participation by industry publicists and marketing people for manufacturers. However, The Wire is also open to integrators, consultants, associations, bloggers, educators, reviewers— anyone working in our community.

To see what I mean, go to svconline.com/the-wire. To request membership credentials please reach out at cwisehart@ nbmedia.com and use The Wire in your subject line.

If you are already a Wire member. Thank you for your participation. If you are having any trouble with the transition, start by going to tempest.saymedia.com and follow the prompts. I also encourage you to add art to the body copy of the story—it is much easier to do so than before!

Also please take advantage of the “Promo” section.

If you are having any trouble, please reach out. Most things are easy to explain/correct in a few minutes on the phone.

Also—please watch your email. We will be making regular communications to Wire members with tips and pointers, and highlighting opportunities to distribute your content across our platforms.

I will also use this opportunity to let you all know that our podcaster Bennett Liles is always looking for great installations to cover in his interviews. To see how he does it go to svconline.com/blog/svc-podcasts. Or you can go to SoundCloud, search for SVConline, listen to the existing podcasts and follow us.

If you would like to have your installation considered for a podcast please also reach out to me at cwisehart@nbmedia. com and use Podcast as your subject line.
