Lenovo issues recall of laptop power banks due to fire hazard

Roughly 3,360 affected devices sold in the U.S. and Canada

Owners of Lenovo Go USB-C Laptop Power Banks are being urged to stop using the product immediately, following a recall from Lenovo.

Devices with the model number PBLG2W and parts number 40ALLG2WWW manufactured between specific dates have been deemed a fire risk. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, “The power bank’s internal screws can come loose, causing a short circuit and overheating of the lithium-ion battery, posing a fire hazard.”

The recalled units have the manufacturing date of 22/01, 22/02, 22/03, 22/04, 22/05 or 22/06. The model number and parts number of device should be visible on the product label. According to Lenovo, there are about 2,850 affected devices that were sold in the U.S., and 510 sold in Canada.
