Microsoft partners with iFixit for Surface repair hub

Partnership sees replacement components for 13 Surface devices become available, as well as step-by-step guides

Months ago, Microsoft announced that they were finally making replacements parts available for their Surface line of devices, which had gotten a bad reputation for their lack of repairability. The components made available varied depending on the device, and some specific parts were unfortunately expensive enough to almost warrant the purchase of a new laptop or tablet. Now, Microsoft has announced a partnership with iFixit that sees all replaceable components become much more accessible for 13 Surface models, all the way up to the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 15.

In addition to replacement parts, the partnership with iFixit gives users access to step-by-step guides for repairs, as well as their trademark disassembly videos. These guides are located in their Microsoft Repair Hub, which includes everything needed for those looking to replace parts on any of the Surface devices. Replacement components are available individually, as well as bundled in “fix kits” that contain tools, accessories, and documentation.
