Disney’s ‘Imagineer That!’ series sees the imagineers that design and develop the AV behind Disney Parks answer fan-submitted questions. In a recent installment, Audio Systems Design Manager Clint Clarke and Senior Lighting Designer Bryan Chess break down the technology used to ensure a proper audio-video sync during Disney Parks’ nighttime parades.
Music and sound cues are pumped through hidden speakers that are blended into each park’s theme. Performers also wear costumes and props that are connected to a wireless time code feed to make sure that light and sound triggers at precisely the right time. Watch the video above to see the imagineers explain how they use Linear Time Code (LTC) to keep things in sync while GPS tracks each parade float’s location in the park.
