NSCA What Every Integrator Needs to Know Webinar Series

Dec 17, 2012 3:03 PM

NSCA membership just became a critical asset needed to run a profitable systems integration business. This year, NSCA will be providing members with a series of web events centered around what every integrator needs to know. Every second Tuesday of the month, NSCA will feature a webinar on relevant topics including tax code changes, contract requirements, wages/payments and tracking, and disruptive technologies.

NSCA hears from its members on a daily basis, asking questions about accounting software to emerging markets. NSCA Executive Director Chuck Wilson answers questions through his weekly question of the week, or blogs, but now he’s turning the most frequent questions into educational online sessions where you can ask a variety of subject matter experts, along with your peers, how to handle the tough business decisions and make sure you are protecting your business, its profits, and your employees.

Upcoming topics for the series include:

Feb. 19: “Ensuring Proper Payment for Hours Worked”

Presented by Edwin Zalewski, J.J.Keller & Associates

The number of lawsuits on wage and hour issues indicates that many employers have difficulty applying the state and federal regulations. Typical problems involve failing to record all working time, failing to pay for break or meal periods, and wrongly classifying employees as exempt, all of which can result in unpaid overtime. This presentation will discuss some of the most commonly misunderstood laws regarding overtime, working time, and related compensation issues such as ensuring the integrity of payroll records.

March 19: “Business Transformation”

Presented by Paul Cronin, Atrion Networking, and Chuck Wilson

This seminar will address how and why the traditional integrators’ business model must be transformed for long-term growth and sustainability. Details on how to make the transformation from a “product sales driven” organization to a “service driven” organization will be discussed. Finally, case studies of organizations that have successfully made the transformation will be made, and tips of traps and pitfalls to avoid will also be shared.

Additional topics throughout 2013 include: 10 Outrageous Contract Requirements, Attracting & Retaining Employees, Measuring Business Intelligence, Protecting Intellectual Property, Developing Visions for Scope & Scalability, Government Policies & Regulations, and Disruptive Technologies for 2014.

Additionally, in late January, NSCA will provide members with information on how to plan for the impending Affordable Care Act. Experts from McGladrey will address the key issues business owners need to figure out now for the 2014 requirements.
